The purpose of this letter is to provide local educational agencies (LEAs) with 2022–2023 School Improvement grant funding information.Ìý

LEAs with campuses identified in August 2022 as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) will be required to participate in federal interventions as outlined by the Division of School Improvement. As a reminder, the methodologies for CSI identification and exit are updated for 2022 accountability. The methodologies are available in Chapter 10 of the proposedÌý2022 Accountability Manual.Ìý

TEA will continue to provide the 2022–2023 Title I, §1003 School Improvement Grant with an allocation of approximately $10,000 per eligible campus to LEAs in order to financially support the required interventions, including the submission of a Targeted Improvement Plan, support, and progress monitoring of eligible Title I-served campuses. This grant will follow a typical schedule, with the grant expected to be posted to the TEA Grants Opportunities Page in mid-September of 2022 with the grant cycle ending in September of 2023.Ìý

As a reminder, Texas Education Code, , states the commissioner may authorize a Targeted Improvement Plan to supersede the provisions of and satisfy the requirements of developing, reviewing, and revising a campus improvement plan under Subchapter F, .Ìý

Additionally, Title I, Part A-served federally identified campuses (Comprehensive Support and Improvement, Targeted Support and Improvement, and Additional Targeted Support) will have the opportunity to apply to a new cycle of the Title I, ESF-Focused Support Grant run as an LOI Competition grant. LEAs may apply on behalf of their Title I, Part A-served federally identified campus(es) for an identified grant path aimed at improving capacity building at the campus level through participation in an Education Service Center (ESC) Vetted Improvement Program (VIP) and/or participation in an external VIP. This grant program application process will begin in January of 2023. The new cycle of the Title I, ESF-Focused Support Grant will begin late summer of 2023 and run through September of 2025.Ìý
