1) Share with appropriate staff;
2) Verify PEIMS submission and make any corrections by July 18, 2024

This communication is to inform school systems about the 2024 PEIMS Summer Submission and Resubmission windows, which constitute the final opportunities to submit some of the key data that will impact 2025 Accountability.

Overview

The A–F Accountability system depends on responsible data collection and data submissions by local educational agencies (LEAs). LEA responsibility for data quality through accurate submission and correction is the cornerstone of a fair and uniform state accountability rating determination. In addition to state assessment data, one of the key sources of data used in the accountability system is the Texas Student Data System/Public Education Information Management System (TSDS PEIMS).

PEIMS Submission and Resubmission Policy

TSDS PEIMS deadlines are strict, and the data submitted during the submission and resubmission (corrections) windows are final. Many ˿Ƶ (TEA) programs use PEIMS data to create products such as Standard Reports and Core products, accountability reports, dropout reports, Snapshot, Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and School Report Cards. Any PEIMS data not submitted by the submission or resubmission deadlines are excluded from these important products. Accountability data submitted to the Working File are not used in accountability calculations.

TSDS PEIMS submission timelines can be found on the webpage.

2024 PEIMS Summer Submission: 2025 CCMR Accountability

The Summer Submission includes data that are used for several A–F Accountability College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicators, such as Dual Credit, Industry-based Certifications (IBCs), and College Prep Courses. The PEIMS Summer Submission (first submission) is due today, June 20, 2024. LEAs have until Thursday, July 18, 2024, to submit any corrected data through the PEIMS Summer Resubmission process. After the resubmission window closes, the accepted PEIMS submissions are the data used for the CCMR indicators for 2025 accountability. The CCMR data collected during the PEIMS Summer Submissions cannot be corrected through the CCMR Verifier process in the following spring or summer.

Steps for LEAs to Check 2024 PEIMS Summer Submission Data

Use the Academic Accountability Data Sources to locate the appropriate PEIMS report, as well as the necessary PEIMS elements and values for each indicator to verify the information prior to submission and during the correction window. It is important that all LEAs verify their data directly in TSDS PEIMS, even if the data appears to be accurate in the Student Information System (SIS).

For example, to verify how many students completed College Prep courses used in accountability, use the TSDS PEIMS PDM report “Course Completion: Students Completing Courses by Pass/Fail Indicator” (PDM3-133- 001). Locate the SERVICE-ID values of CP110100 (RLA) or CP111200 (Math). Confirm the students were reported with a COURSE-SEQUENCE-CODE value of the following: “0”, “2”, “5”, “9”, “D0”, “D2”, “D5”, or “D9”, with a PASS/FAIL-CREDIT-INDICATOR-CODE of “01” or “08”.

For further guidance with these CCMR verification steps for each TSDS PEIMS CCMR indicator, please refer to the Administrator’s Guide to PEIMS and Accountability, coming soon to the Performance Reporting Resources webpage.

LEA Responsibilities

LEAs load, validate, and submit data TEA via TSDS PEIMS. LEAs can utilize the report options available through TSDS PEIMS to verify their local data prior to the final submission deadline. The PEIMS data must be approved by the superintendent and accepted by an LEA’s Education Service Center PEIMS Coordinator before it can be accepted by TEA. Note, starting with the 2024-2025 Fall Submission, LEAs will have access to a single PEIMS report for accountability data verification purposes during each submission window. This will include a year-to-year comparison for additional clarity.

Data Submission Responsibilities can be found on the webpage.
